Camille's arrival

Camille Kailani arrived kicking and screaming on August 22 at 0145. After a night of no sleep she greated several guests: Timm & Valerie Vedder, Paul & Sherry Clark, Ronnie Rooks, Steve Birchfield, Brenda Nathaniel & Marek Wojick, Tonya Kratovil and Jean Hoffman. Busy day. Nurses checked on us around the clock and everything went smoothly so it was wonderful to get home the next morning to some piece and quiet. Bosco met Camille and seemed pretty interested, but not too pushy.

Mike and I spent a week getting Camille settled in and learning to be parents. Mike had to go back to work after a week so my mom, Susan, came to help when Camille was 15 days old. Mom accompanied us to Camille's two week check up with Dr. Sarah Lentz-Kapua. Camille had surpassed her birth weight and was given a clean bill of health. Mom also helped keep the household from falling apart (our refridgerator has never been so clean!), held Camille when I needed a break and we had a nice visit. We had quite a few visitors those first few weeks: Liz, Valerie, Timm & George, Leah, Taylor & Odin, Anjali, Neity, Rita, Rene & Reica, Bill & Angie. Lots of people brought us yummy food which was very much appreciated. Mike's mom, Iligene, then came to meet Camille. By this point Camille was able to hold her head up somewhat. Iligene held Camille 24-7, well not quite, but definitely helped me check up on some sleep. The grandmas will be missed!

Congratulations! Camille is adorable, and seeing Mike as a daddy is a little surreal, but wonderful. I hope you're having a ball, and I'll put this on my RSS feed so I can follow the madness. I guess I have a new first-cousin-once-removed!
